BTRG was formed in 1986
and quickly became a regular name within the
ERP marketplace after managing a beta
implementation of General Ledger. Our
founders became references for major new
accounts as applications such as PeopleSoft
gained traction in the early 1990’s. BTRG
was recommended to many early customers
because of our knowledge of the applications
and our technical skills. These early
customers included NASD/Nasdaq, Allmerica,
PRC, Independence Blue Cross and NBC.
Throughout the mid-1990s
ERP vendors continued to introduce BTRG to
their customers and at the same time, BTRG
began promoting a low-risk implementation
methodology based on prototyping the
business configuration before implementing.
As the product line matured, we discouraged
our customers from customizing the software
and encouraged adopting the delivered "best
practice" model within the software. This
often controversial approach meant that
customers could implement the software
faster and at lower cost, if they could
change their business to suit the software.
In the late 1990's Business Process
Re-engineering became a common component of
the typical ERP implementation.
By 2000, the driver for
software investments shifted from Y2K fears
to ROI. By this time, ERP vendors also
shifted from a software centric approach to
a consulting centric approach as licensing
revenue capped off. But customers continued
to demand objectivity in evaluating their
investments. Many fortune 1000 companies
realized their rush to new systems in the
late 1990s, simply resulted in converting
their old data and business process. BTRG
responded by demonstrating how companies can
realize the full potential of their software
investment, leverage eCommerce and the
internet and change the culture and work
habits of their staff. We responded with
new service bundles, new products for
managing change and new partners with
high-tech training solutions.
Today, our services are
still leading edge in a market place where
traditional programming and implementation
skills are a commodity. BTRG continues to
differentiate our services by focusing on
methods that bring higher value to our
customer, no matter what business
application software they use. Our services
are also unique as we have packaged specific
niche solutions and we have a strong value
proposition for mid-market customers who
demand top-tier expertise at a reasonable
price.
