The average American checks their phone on average 150 times per day. With this connectedness comes the challenge of keeping your applications current and readily accessible for employees. PeopleSoft 9.2 Mobile Expenses provides an opportunity for organizations to simplify and modernize the way employees track their expenses. A recent BTRG client implemented this module so that their employees can enter expenses on-the-go, decreasing entry time and eliminating the need for lost receipt excuses.
PeopleSoft 9.2 Mobile Expenses allows users to do the following via their smartphone:
- Enter, modify, and submit expense reports
- Enter, modify, and submit travel authorizations
- Review expense report history
- Review and edit My Wallet transactions
- Receive alerts for any expense policies or advisories
- Link to Mobile Approvals allows managers to approve or deny expense reports
- View expense report analytics and metrics
- Change accounting distribution

The largest benefit our client saw in using Mobile Expenses was the ability for users to attach receipts directly to expense reports using their phones. They were able to completely replace a third party imaging system because of this feature. Most employees that travel would rather take a picture right away and throw away the paper receipt than save them all for later. With 9.2, they have the ability to attach a receipt on-the-go or select a photo from their library to use. This eliminates the mundane task of going back and entering all the expenses at once.
PUM images provide additional functionality every 6 months or so for PeopleSoft users that choose to take advantage of it. FSCM Image 19 (the most recent image) brought about huge changes for mobile expense report entry. The fluid expense report entry page has been revamped to match the functionality in classic entry. Hotel Wizard and Receipt Split are now available, making it easier than ever for people to enter their expenses on the road.
