Since the release of PeopleSoft 9.2 in March, I have been to several conferences where the interest in upgrading to 9.2 has surprised me. With every release of PeopleSoft, BTRG sees an uptick in opportunities and clients wanting to kick the tires, but this year I was a little worried. With the fierce competition PeopleSoft is facing from Workday, a retooled SAP product, and the almost hysterical drumbeat that some companies are using to force-march people into the cloud, I thought customers may be apprehensive to upgrade their PeopleSoft applications.
So far, I am amazed at the overwhelming interest and commitment some of our clients have shown to move to PeopleSoft 9.2. At BTRG, several of our customers have already jumped right into 9.2, and the projects are moving along very well. The initial feedback is that customers love the new features, the new tools, and the new interface. The product itself is also very stable. As BTRG was an Oracle testing partner prior to the release of 9.2, this comes as no surprise to us.
Of course some folks are still waiting a few months for the new release to work out any issues, and in the past, BTRG has endorsed this strategy. However, it should be noted that 9.2 has moved well beyond previous early releases, and at BTRG we consider this to be a very stable release. We are encouraging our clients to move forward, and we are also offering them access to our database of 9.2 test scripts to reduce any risk they may perceive. For those PeopleSoft customers who may still be apprehensive, we encourage you to take advantage of our 9.2 assessment offerings including a PeopleSoft 9.2 Workshop and a Jumpstart Assessment.
Only time will tell the actual adoption rate for PeopleSoft 9.2, but my feeling is that the 9.2 product will have excellent adoption rates, will have great reviews, and our clients will be happy they made the switch when they did.
