The GFOA conference continues to be an exciting venue for TrueNorth and the over 6000 attendees. This year’s conference focused on the new “norm” of economic conditions and how governments can best respond. A predominant message at the conference is the value of managing organizational performance as a strategy for effectively and efficiently using public resources. TrueNorth’s joint presentation with the city of Roanoke, VA and Oracle focused on how performance management and Budgeting for Outcomes has improved Roanoke’s ability to better manage resources. Over 200 individuals attended the presentation. The full presentation can be viewed at GFOA Getting Results from Performance Measurement Systems.
Hundreds of City, County, State, and education representatives stopped by BTRG/TrueNorth’s exhibitor’s area to ask questions and learn more about performance management within the public sector and while many jurisdictions continue to struggle with implementing planning and performance management, most are beginning to understand how these tools are important to improving government. Each GFOA conference brings new attention to public sector performance management which we believe is essential to restoring public trust and regaining control over resource allocations.
We look forward to seeing you next year in San Francisco.
